After owning my grooming shop, I’ve come to understand how difficult or inconvenient it is to bring your pet into a vet or grooming shop for simple pet maintenance such as mobile pet services for dog nail trimming , ear cleaning, and much more.
Some animals are unable to ride in the car, some won’t get in the car, or others get car sick. No matter what, stress is involved.

But my pet doesn’t do well during the trimming of the nails
No problem, I take any temperament! It is so vital for the pet not to make it an unpleasant experience. I try to take my time and keep the pet relaxed as much as possible. However, it might take multiple visits to “work with the pet” to get the pet relaxed to get a proper nail trimming. Because safety for the pet and the Pet Paw Specialist is of the utmost importance, we may need to muzzle the pet, but I use it as a last resort. At times, the owner might prefer to “medicate” the pet. Please inform the Pet Paw Specialist when this occurs.

If the animal is “quicked.”
On occasion, the pet might be “quicked.” Being quicked means that the nail is cut into the quick. The bleeding should stop quickly with a little styptic powder. Quicking is not necessarily bad because it pushes the quick back faster. If the nail continues to bleed, a little cornstarch on the nail can do the trick.
Events vs. House Calls
On the weekends, Peticures holds Nail Trimming Events at Subdivisions or Apartment Complexes. Although each neighborhood is different, we try to send out an email blast to inform you of the upcoming event in your area. We set up a table typically at the neighborhood clubhouse. Peticures is there for 2 hours and schedule appointments or welcomes walk-ins. Follow the website, Facebook page or NextDoor app or an email blast to find the event nearest you. Pricing at events is cheaper!
Preparing for a visit
For cats, I will text when I depart for your home so that it gives you enough time to get the cat in a confined space. We typically ask the owner to hold the animal while I clip the cat.
For dogs, if sedation is needed, please let the Pet Paw Specialist be aware. They will text you when they are on their way so that you may administer the medication. Upon arrival, I will NOT greet your dog at the door. This helps to calm the dog. Please do not hold the dog back by the collar. If your dog jumps, the Pet Paw Specialist will handle that behavior. To trim the nails on a large or medium dog, we usually sit on the floor in a brightly lit area. For small dogs, we ask the owner to hold the pet. We do ask the owner to keep the dog as we clip or grind the nails. The pet parent must stay calm. The pet can feel your nervous energy and will pick up on it, causing a less than ideal nail trimming session. I will always try to take my time with the animal. Sometimes, it will take a few sessions before the pet can relax enough for a truly good dog nail trimming. Repetition is essential in getting the pet used to nail trimming
